About Wendell Women's Club

Organized in 1927, the Wendell Woman’s Club was federated in April of that year beginning a fascinating history that continues into its 83rd year of activity.

The Wendell Woman’s Club is part of the General Federation of Women’s Clubs of North Carolina (GFWC) which is in turn part of the GFWC, the world’s largest and oldest non-denominational, nonpartisan, international volunteer service organization of women.

Today a woman’s role is much different than it was years ago. While the demands of job and family are many, involvement in community activities is important.

Many women want to be more involved in the community’s quality of life issues. Many want to make a difference -- to make their communities, their state, and the nation a better place in which to live.

The Wendell Woman’s Club has always had many community projects on its agenda. This has been, and will remain, a service organization. While we do meet new people and make lasting friendships, the Wendell Woman’s Club itself is not a social club. We meet each month with a purpose -- how can our town benefit from our existence?

Cash awards, medals and varying degrees of aid have been donated to students of Wendell schools and to local youth groups. Interest in civic affairs, education and leadership development has always been of prime interest. The club has organized and promoted schools of dance, art instruction, sponsored Wendell Scout Troops and organized the Community Chest.

An annual celebration that is significant in demonstrating the attitude of the Wendell Woman’s Club provides a covered dish luncheon to the employees of the Town of Wendell. The meal is cooked and served by club members to thant the employees for their dedication to Wendell.

The Wendell Woman’s Club would like to invite all women interested in making a difference in our community to join us in this quest. If you feel passionate about our community and have a servant’s heart, we’d love to meet you.

The club meets every 3rd Wednesday of the month at noon (please call to confirm). We encourage you to stop by, make new friend and contribute in making Wendell an even better place to live!
